5 Easy Steps For An At-Home Facial

Although we’re not going out as much anymore, we still need to take the time to look after our skin. An at-home facial is a lavish way to give your skin some extra TLC while having a chance to switch off. So why not light a candle and put on your spa-inspired playlist for some self-care.

1. Start with a Cleanser

Choose a cleanser that will renew your skin. We recommend using an oil-based cleanser as this will leave your skin feeling refreshed and help remove makeup and dead skin cells. Take extra care, spend at least ten minutes gently massaging it in so that your skin is ready for the next step. Go in with a gentle cleanser after, a foam or a cream-based one, for a double cleanse.

2. Exfoliate

Exfoliating the face will get rid of dead skins cells and excess oils you might have missed from cleansing. Depending on your skin’s sensitivity, you can choose to use with a physical or chemical exfoliant. You want to make sure that skin is left feeling polished rather than stripped. Use an AHA or BHA based exfoliant here if you have one.

3. Steaming

Fill a bowl of hot water and place your face over it with a towel covering the rest of your head. Steaming will soften the skin, detoxify your pores and increase blood circulation and lead to radiant-looking skin.

4. Mask it up

The skin should feel and look smoother. Go in with a face mask and use one that targets your skin type or concern. Apply the mask all over your face down to your neck, keep it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Gently wash the mask off with a warm face cloth.

5. Moisturise and Elevate

Choose a moisturiser, eye cream and a combination of serums for your final step. To hydrate the skin well apply the serum before your moisturiser, a good rule of thumb is to start with your lightest cream to your heaviest.

Massage your face for an extra step of luxury, if you have a gua sha or jade roller as they’ll come in perfect use and help to absorb the products better into your skin.

Implementing an at-home facial once a week is an excuse for time alone, your skin will be thankful for the extra care too.
