The current situation isn’t the best for so many reasons, and perhaps you promised yourself that at least you’ll be productive. You’ll read that book you bought last year, finally take the online course you never had time for or start a new project of yours. But instead, you keep scrolling, watching people’s stories, laughing at memes, texting and and basically wasting your time. Luckily, there are ways to keep yourself from Instagram, Facebook and the rest of the time-wasting apps: some more apps!
Forest is an app that allows you to set a time limit up to 120 minutes. In this time, a virtual tree is growing as long as you don’t exit the app and do something else on your phone. If you do, the tree dies. Forest is partnered with an organization that plants real trees! You can also use the extension of Forest on your laptop.
Marinara Timer is a website that allows you to use the Pomodoro Technique: working for 25 minutes four times in a row with 5-minute breaks in between. After the fourth time, you take a 15-minute break. The website measures the time, and an alarm goes off after every work and rest period. You can also customise the time periods. You can use Forest in the same way on your phone, setting the time periods yourself.
AppBlock helps you stay focused by enabling you to choose which apps to block, at what times in the day (from 7 am till 7 pm, for example) or even to set an hourly limit (5 minutes, for example). Every time you’ll try to enter one of the (temporarily) blacklisted apps, AppBlock will prevent you from doing so.
