With a seemingly endless amount of free time at our disposal now and with hopefully a stable internet connection, binge-watching TV shows has become the norm. But if you’re like me, then you’ve already raced through Netflix’s Tiger King and Messiah and need something equally as captivating to watch. Here are three amazing dramas you won’t ever want to end:
The Leftovers
Starring none other than Justin Theroux, this deeply emotional mystery tells the story of a world in which one day 2% of the population mysteriously disappear. The aftermath of this event is explored through the eyes of its central characters, which include a police officer, a former reverend, a mysterious guru, and some silent cult members. Each episode is as poignant and suspenseful as the last, leaving us wanting to know more, but not really sure whether we can handle it. The cast members also do a fantastic job in fleshing out each of their characters, and you’ll feel as if you’ve known these broken and heartbroken people forever.

With two incredible seasons under its belt, Netflix’s The OA has gone from strength to strength in the drama department. It tells the story of Praire, an adopted woman who has been missing for seven years and suddenly shows up out of the blue. The only thing is…something is extremely different about her. The series unfurls to reveal a chain of events that you will probably never in a million, billion years (or however long we’ve been in quarantine for) see coming…yet they all manage to be believable. It’s both slow-burning and extremely gripping at the same time. Make sure you clear a full day before you get started, as you’ll want answers from the get-go.

If you were a fan of the OG Twilight Zone then you’ll be excited about the latest reboot. If you haven’t heard of it, all you need to know is that it really was the original anthology program…as in the one that inspired Black Mirror. Each episode of the show takes on new characters and a new story, mixing supernatural elements and suspense to tell a tale with a moral. Some of the episodes you can look forward to watching are about a stand-up-comic who can make anyone disappear by making a joke about them onstage (equal parts crazy and creepy) and a woman harbouring an alien…Trust me, they make sense when you start to watch them (kind of), so what are you waiting for?
